Contributors Guidelines
Shareable insights’ mission is to educate and inform our audience of knowledge-hungry readers. We aim for high standards of content on our site. We, therefore, ask our contributors to follow these simple guidelines:
Content:
1. It’s content for sharing.
Posts should have a minimum of 300 words and can include relevant images, and outbound links to your profile and website. Please no affiliate links. Articles containing irrelevant hyperlinks and keyword filling may not be published. Please ensure that if you do include hyperlinks that they belong in the right place and don’t look odd.
2. It’s not for advertising.
Posts are intended to be useful and insightful to our readers and posts may not be blatant advertisements. If you wish to advertise on Shareable Insights please contact us directly. Similarly, if you have a press release which is educational and informative please also contact us directly.
3. We will give credit where it is due.
We feel it is only right to promote our contributors and we are happy to include links to your personal social profiles in a bio section. However, links to others should not be included within the body of the article post. If more than one contributed to the post only one bio will be permitted. However, please do attribute other authors at the bottom of the post. For example: “Bob Jones and Roger Hill also contributed to this insight.”
We also welcome a Call To Action at the end of a post. Examples include:
- Invitation to comment on the post
- Follow on Twitter, connect on LinkedIn etc.
- Suggested books to read (especially your own)
- Note: Please do not make a call to action to visit or contact a company either by email, their website, on social media or to subscribe to company email newsletters etc.
4. Help us post your work.
For the sake of efficiency and respect to the Shareable Insights team, we kindly ask that your insights are in a ready-to-post state similar our existing insight posts. We will review your post and may make a few final tweaks if necessary. If we feel too much editing is required or the post is not in keeping with the ethics of Shareable Insights then it may be rejected.
5. Be honest and don’t copy.
It’s great to share, but taking credit for others work is just dishonest. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the contributor for the originality and accuracy of their content. If a contributor is plagiarising the work of another then they may be banned from contributing. We don’t want the good name of Shareable Insights to be associated with plagiarism. If we find that content has been copied or stolen from another then we will ban the contributor from publishing and their earlier work may be removed from the site. It’s only fair!
We suggest that plagiarism can be:
- Copying content from any someone else’s website.
- Copying someone else’s work and claiming it is yours.
- Copying all or some of another’s hard work and making some changes to pass off as their own.
- Suggesting someone else’s ideas are yours including images, ideas, infographics, models or even the bulk of the content and so on.
6. Keep it relevant and insightful.
Simply re-writing publicly available information and calling it an insight may be an exaggeration. It’s a matter of opinion whether an article is insightful or not. However, explaining an idea in more detail, how, why, who and when adds more depth, improves the understanding of the reader and demonstrates that the author is an expert.
7. Spreading the word.
We may, in the future, syndicate content published on Shareable Insights to third parties. Therefore, please make sure articles are proofread before submitting. Once live elsewhere we have no control to remove or edit posts syndicated to external sites.
8. Be patient.
We’re all busy most of the time and have processes to follow, editing, posting and maintaining our website too. Please do, therefore, allow us 7 days to publish (or reject) your post.
9. Linking.
Sharing insights is not a link building exercise. Please keep external links to a minimum (say no more than 3). There will be internal links on our site already. We want to be insightful and not “spammy”.
It’s ok to link to relevant quoted articles and posts, resources and research that will be insightful to our readers and make contextual sense. Remember though no affiliate links, links to a company website or company social profile.
If you do want to affiliate, sponsor or advertise with Shareable Insights, please do contact us directly.
10. Posted this elsewhere?
If you have posted the article elsewhere, please add a line at the end of the article to link back to the original post.
11. Check, check again and check once more.
Please make sure that post are proofread for errors and accuracy. We cannot spend time doing this for you. Shareable Insights is intended to have quality content for sharing with our readers and therefore do not want to publish grammatically poor content.
NOTE: We may change these guidelines at any time.
Thank You and Happy Sharing!
